Due to roleplay restrictions and front loaded mechanics associated with the Monk and Paladin classes, the following additional multiclassing rules apply to PCs with Monk or Paladin levels.
If you take levels in Monk or Paladin at level 1, you are not permitted to multi-class to another class unless your character has at least 4 levels in Monk or Paladin.
If you wish to multiclass to Monk or Paladin after level 1, you must request DM permission to do so. You cannot take levels in another class until you have at least 4 levels in Monk or Paladin. Requests to start taking monk or paladin after level 9 will be denied.
You must also be in the appropriate monk/paladin order or you will not be allowed to level Monk/Paladin again after multiclassing. See the lists of approved Monk and Paladin Orders for more information.
Existing PCs that have less than 4 levels (but at least 1 level) in Monk or Paladin and have multiclassed must put in a request to the DM team. Players have a choice between a free rebuild to bring the character in line with this ruling, or for permission to take the remaining levels of Monk/Paladin as your next attained levels. Please list your current spread of levels in your request.
