Druids are divine spellcasters who strive to live in harmony with the natural world, and hate anything that is not part of the natural cycle, especially aberrations and undead creatures. As they gain experience, they learn to take the shapes of animals and eventually of more powerful creatures. The strict oaths taken by every druid prohibit using weapons and armor outside their traditions.
Narfell is set in the Forgotten Realms, where druids are required to represent a patron deity from the official books. Because we are a roleplaying server, your character will be expected to advance their deity's dogma. You'll find a wealth of information on Forgotten Realms nature deities online.
Some companions are level-restricted. Most notably the bear companion cannot be taken before Druid level 6.

When appearing at the beginning to a chat message, the command ;a will make your familiar (if summoned) speak the message that follows. Your familiar can also perform a few emotes (such as -dead) and do its own skillchecks (without the additional ! command). The commands ;s and ;d will behave in a similar fashion with summoned and dominated creatures.
On Narfell, the druidic oath has expanded the list of allowed weapons to include: scythe, kukri, kama, handaxe, shortbow, longbow. Druids are not automatically proficient in these, but using them will not be treated by DMs as a violation of the druidic oath.
Druids receive certain bonus spells, such as more second-level ability enhancing spells.
